Inland Shipping

Green Plus in inland vessels / tugboats / freighters, etc.sf binnenschifffahrt gp 2In Europe, an average of 5% of transportation is represented by inland shipping. In terms of energy consumption, inland shipping is the most economically efficient form of transportation compared to road and rail.

Emissions from inland shipping are three to five times lower with regard to consumption / CO2 compared to truck transport. In spite of the positive environmental balance – a ship with a 1,000 ton load capacity carries as much as forty trucks or a freight train – inland ships consume a relatively large amount of fuel per hour and travel through inhabited areas. With Green Plus, the soot particle load is reduced for the population and inland shipping therefore becomes an even more appealing transport partner.
